André Cadere

Cadere worked to a system of numerical order that he had developed himself, containing errors as a secret code. Cadere developed his Barres de Bois as mobile works of art in 1970, something that he could take everywhere with him and use at any time, anywhere. They are legitimized as works of art by being positioned in the context of art, and they can equally well be withdrawn from it.

He travelled all over Europe with his bars, and on to New York, turning up at openings by artists who were close to him like Robert Ryman and Barnett Newman, or at Biennales, uninvited or invited, and usually unwelcome. He would either keep the Barres de Bois in his hand, like a staff, or put them down in a carefully chosen place. Despite the simplicity of the resources he used, the bars developed such a strong presence that that they marked out an unmistakable territory of their own and made an impact on the exhibition.

Cadere wanted his interventions to create a disturbance, thus starting arguments about the art system, which he saw as representing other social systems.

"I'm a rebel i say RED RED"

A pretty straight forward man, he paints brush strokes 30 cm apart for more than 40 years now. He has a strong opinion.

Verliezen is de nieuwe winnen!

Holland is crying now together with Germany.and that's why we should be happy now! because there's nothing to win out there, nothing to lose. everything is meaningless and empty.unlike the moon and the stars our world does not work for us: illusion is a strange place! christoph schlingensief got testified another tumor in his lung. he won't make it all too long, i guess. and that's really bad news (to me). you can see him lying on that x-ray apparatus here. somewhere there he says: the normal, the average is our greatest gift.enjoy the normal, don't you ever say again: "ich kann nicht mehr !"

Floppy Legs

The Attenborough Design Group is a fictional organisation, created by James Chambers and Tom Judd. It investigates the use of animal behaviours to defend emerging technologies. These products include the Gesundheit Radio, which sneezes periodically to expel potentially damaging dust, Floppy Legs, a portable floppy disk drive which stands up if it detects liquid nearby, and the AntiTouch Lamp, which sways away from you if you get too close to its sensitive halogen bulb.

nice how some things have a clear starting point

At these parties in the recreation room at Sedgwick Avenue, DJ Kool Herc developed the style that was the blueprint for hip hop music. Herc used two copies of the same record to focus on a short, heavily percussive, part in it: the "break". Since this part of the record was the one the dancers liked best, Herc isolated and prolonged it. As one record reached the end of the break, he cued the other record back to the beginning of the break, thereby extending a relatively small part of a record into a "five-minute loop of fury".[9] This innovation had its roots in what he called "The Merry-Go-Round"—a switching from break to break done at the height of the party. Herc told The New York Times he first introduced the Merry-Go-Round into his sets in 1972.[10] The earliest known Merry-Go-Round involved playing James Brown's "Give It Up or Turnit A Loose" (with its refrain, "Now clap your hands! Stomp your feet!"), then switching from its break into the break from "Bongo Rock" by The Incredible Bongo Band, and from "Bongo Rock"'s break into that of "The Mexican" by the English rock band Babe Ruth.
