Pussy Riot Appeals Convictions for ‘Hooliganism’ to European Human Rights Court

Attorneys for three members of the feminist punk group Pussy Riot are taking the group’s “hooliganism” convictions to a human rights court, alleging the Russian government’s actions against them for performing a protest song in a Moscow church violate the European Convention on Human Rights. In a complaint filed on Wednesday, lawyers for the Pussy Riot members claim the convictions violated the convention’s rights to liberty and security, the prohibition of torture, guarantees of freedom of speech and the right to a fair trial, according to the Associated Press.

Pussy Riot Is Not Doing Well in Prison

Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, one of the members of Pussy Riot, has been hospitalized in her prison colony in Mordovia, for what the Associated Press is calling a "full medical check-up." Tolokonnikova was one of two members of the band sent to prison colonies with reportedly terrible conditions back in October.

Meeting with Pussy Riot Members in Hiding

As Moscow bans video clips by Pussy Riot, the Russian media celebrates the end of the protest band. But some of the women have gone underground and are using a hidden apartment as their headquarters. They plan to continue their fight.

Washington - A member of the anti-Kremlin punk band Pussy Riot freed unexpectedly from prison on Wednesday vowed defiantly hours later that the group's protest actions would continue.

Russian Youth Group Offers Reward For Free Pussy Riot Members



The Russian youth group Nashi is offering a bounty to anyone who provides information on the location of members of the feminist performance group Pussy Riot who are still at large.

Nashi "commissar" Konstantin Goloskokov announced the 50,000-ruble (about $18,000) bounty and said the group was collecting money through the Internet to increase the "prize fund" for information on the whereabouts of other Pussy Riot members.
