One million U.S. citizens are sorted by political affiliation and
exposed to public persecution in the aftermath of the 2012
presidential election.
For months, Paolo Cirio secretly stole data from Twitter.com on over one million Americans. Using a sophisticated sifting process, he determined the political affiliation of those people and scored their public statements and social connections in terms of the likelihood that they aligned with a political position.
HOW
Persecuting.us offers a platform where everyone can take part in a participatory model pushed to extremes, engaging people in surveying and persecuting each other in a form of info-civil-war of political polarization, which can potentially erupt into defamation, intimidation and oppression of domestic enemies.
This art project is a massive citizen-sorting database organized along political lines, much like the private holdings that have amassed databases of voters in order to influence and monitor the electorate.
SOCIAL SORTING
During the last election, Twitter was used to track down people’s opinion, promote candidates by buying trending topics in public debates and invite citizen participation through tweeting their political statements. However, Twitter is a private company which monitors, manipulates and sells data on personal and public trends.

Italian artist sentenced for his net art work

Recently a significant event happened that may threaten the freedom of expression in contemporary art in Italy. A young Italian artist, Luca Lo Coco, was condemned the seizure of furniture in his house, following a legal dispute with Giancarlo Politi, director of Flash Art, one of the most important art magazines in Italy.
It all started in 2006, when the 26 years old Luca Lo Coco, living in Palermo (Sicily), created the net.art work www.ashartonline.com, which parodised Politi’s website www.flashartonline.com. In his website, Lo Coco expressed a severe criticism of the contemporary art system in Italy, of which Flash Art was the fullest expression.
After a court case lasting four years, Luca Lo Coco in 2010 was ordered to pay legal fees. Since the young artist was not able to meet the payment, in May 2011, Luca, visibly shaken, had the distraint of goods, as a reimburse for the court battle. The net.art website www.ashartonline.com was seized as well, by order of the Court of Palermo. In case of the website had not been obscured, Luca would be fined 1,500 euro per day.

"A comprehensive collection of very usefull elements for creating images.
Best viewed in slideshow, fullscreen, but rather nice in smaller size too.
Use them at your discretion, as part of any type of image. You will discover that these things are damn great."

Netochka Nezvanova - The most feared woman on the Internet - Katharine Mieszkowski
For someone who does not exist -- at least the way you or I do -- Netochka Nezvanova has a fearsome reputation. She's a gifted computer programmer and polemicist, an artist and a pain-in-the-ass, a critic of capitalism and fascism, as well as a capitalist and a marketer. >>More<< of this article.Response from NN >>HERE<<
... I am requesting that within a reasonable number of days Salon.com corrects the numerous errors present in the article and issues a public apology. For your convenience I have enumerated the innumerable errors below.

ERRORS / HORRORS
1. \\ Denying my humanity does not a verse make.
Katharine Mieszkowski has written:
"For someone who does not exist -- at least the way you or I do"
Prior to the illegal / criminal invasion of Poland in 1939,
NAZI propaganda films depicted Poles as less than human, as inhuman, as not "you or I" or `us`.
German soldiers however, soon found that Poles much different than "you or I" or `us` weren't. They sweated, begot cavities, were prone to bouts of unhappiness and happiness, when in the mood demanded attention and love, and ... they were very very stubborn.

A Tool To Deceive and Slaughter - Caleb Larsen

you can see on blog.makezine.com a nice example of what a blog can do: there is suggestion to look further into what the artist is doing by posting and it happens some do. there are comments, what is more: feedback both ways bloggers to artist and artist to bloggers…
blog, blog blog (or blablabla spoken) as freedom put it.
the first text we get is a quote from here.
(ok, you might not agree but here i go with a quote from the promotional material of the piece:
Combining Robert Morris' Box With the Sound of Its Own Making with Baudrillard's writing on the art auction this sculpture exists in eternal transactional flux. It is a physical sculpture that is perptually attempting to auction itself on eBay.
(i will do a little reshuffling, 1st i would get rid of the art historical contextualization at least i'd certainly not start with that!!! we can discuss this later.
It is a physical sculpture that is perpetually attempting to auction itself on eBay since this sculpture exists in eternal transactional flux of an art auction. (direct attention on what the thing is doing unless i am to admire another shiny black box.
note: i used "it" at the very beginning because i have great problems with the title. why? because deception and slaughter of whom or what? deceive the owner (owner to be or whom? the very same person who is to enter an unusual contractual agreement? let alone that me as a viewer should be perceived in the 1st place as a potential buyer! so affording me a position of innocence meaning there is an "i" that is only looking as art audience is false or not? is not the first and foremost aim of the piece to keep the auction going as the base condition of its existence? or it hopes to get into the big hall of fame of dead shiny black boxes?)
tricky, tricky nevertheless do look at it...
