Action in London, Revolutionary Credit Cards against shrinking UK economy
On 25th March 2011 hundreds of the revolutionary credit cards were
distributed at strategics places around London. as part of the action
joining the protests in the city against the public sector cuts caused
by the so called economic recession. The Gift Finance is a real alternative, a new model that allows anyone to create money, giving back monetary power to the people. The same people who are victims of the incompetent banking sector. Financial institutions are legally allowed to create money out of nothing, we want to have the same right! HERE + HERE

S(trick)-Bahn - Stitch n Bitch
From Mirche:
"A group of Guerilla Knitters which I am part of have recently (31 January to be precise) stormed the U1 in Berlin disguised with knitted beards and armed with knitted cozies, to beautify and soften the harsh interior of the everyday world of commuters. After 3 months of preparation with my Stitch N Bitch group, it took us just an hour to install, and the carriage stayed in circulation until around 15:00, when the BVG security unfortunately cut it all to pieces. Despite making those few employees miserable by giving them extra work, I think we cheered up a fair amount of weary travellers on a gloomy January day!"

Inside Anonymous' Secret War Room
"Dissident members of the internet hacktivist group Anonymous, tired of what they call the mob's "unpatriotic" ways, have provided law enforcement with chat logs of the group's leadership planning crimes, as well as what they say are key members' identities. They also gave them to us."

Popular Unrest
Popular Unrest, is a multi-episode drama set in a future much like the present. Here, however, all exchange transactions and social interactions are overseen by a system called ‘the Spirit’. A rash of unexplained killings have broken out across the globe. They often take place in public but witnesses never see an assailant. Just as mysteriously, groups of unrelated people are suddenly coming together everywhere, amassing new members rapidly. Unaccountably, they feel a deep and persistent sense of connection to one another. watch HERE
RDTN.org: crowdsourcing and mapping radiation levels
One issue that has emerged during the nuclear crisis in Japan is that there isn't always a reliable source for radiation levels from specific areas. >>RDTN.org<< has just launched, an experiment to help address that need. The site allows people to submit their own reads, and maps them out next to data from official sources and measurement dates. This way, anyone can quickly get an idea of what is happening on the ground, first-hand. The site is brand new but should be very useful going forward.

In Search Of The Snailhausen Project...
>> Snails must die <<
"Ben Wheatley is best known for cutting up photos of cocks and making them pulse in time to mashed-up records. For a change of pace he's created a Big Brother-style real world web event where snails from his garden are placed in "Snailhausen" and you can vote who gets killed next. Ben then smashes them with a brick and puts up the videos for your entertainment. Most serial killers start with killing animals. We worry about Ben." -from a long standing UK internet newsletter. Cry Baby: The Pedal That Rocks The World - Joey Tosi
Cry Baby: The Pedal That Rocks The World from Joey Tosi on Vimeo.
Cry Baby: The Pedal That Rocks The World tells the story of the wah wah effect pedal, from its invention in 1966 to the present day. Musicians, engineers, and historians discuss the impact of the pedal on popular music and demonstrate the various ways it has been used, as well as how its evolution has improved the ability of artists to express themselves musically. The film features interviews with Brad Plunkett, the inventor of the pedal, plus many other musical luminaries such as Ben Fong-Torres, Eddie Van Halen, Slash, Buddy Guy, Art Thompson, Eddie Kramer, Kirk Hammett, Dweezil Zappa, and Jim Dunlop. These professionals explain how a musical novelty transcended convention and has become timelessly woven into the fabric of modern pop-culture.
[57 minutes long but very nice documentary!]

Images from the secret STASI archives - Simon Menner
"Maybe the weirdest thing I came across so far - and I had no idea that something like this might exist - are the images of spies taking pictures of spies. Some small units within the Alied Forces were theoretically free to move within all of Germany. This was seen by both sides (east and west) as a wonderful opportunity for espionage. Whenever a small group of soldiers drove in their car through East Germany STASI agents tried to follow them. Both sides were fully aware that the other side was fully aware of their presence and this is exactly what these images show. An endless circle or awareness. I believe this is a wonderful allegory for the Cold War. Currently I am researching whether some of their counterparts still exist in western archives."

Netochka Nezvanova - The most feared woman on the Internet - Katharine Mieszkowski
For someone who does not exist -- at least the way you or I do -- Netochka Nezvanova has a fearsome reputation. She's a gifted computer programmer and polemicist, an artist and a pain-in-the-ass, a critic of capitalism and fascism, as well as a capitalist and a marketer. >>More<< of this article.

Prior to the illegal / criminal invasion of Poland in 1939,
NAZI propaganda films depicted Poles as less than human, as inhuman, as not "you or I" or `us`.
German soldiers however, soon found that Poles much different than "you or I" or `us` weren't. They sweated, begot cavities, were prone to bouts of unhappiness and happiness, when in the mood demanded attention and love, and ... they were very very stubborn.
