Graeber, a professor at the University of London and a widely respected anthropologist, has achieved a new level of fame in recent weeks for his early influence on the Occupy Wall Street protests that began in New York City and have since spread around the world.
The Wall Street Journal declared Graeber to be "the single academic who has done the most to shape the nascent movement," while Bloomberg Businessweek declared him to be the "anti-leader" of Occupy Wall Street who generally abstains from the limelight even as his writings,
including a new book on the history of debt and the influence of money, serve as an "intellectual frame" for the protesters.

Twitter Q & A with Yoko Ono
@reeraw rea mcnamara
what was the different between the original cut piece performance you did in ’65 versus the version you did in ’03?
The difference was people were much more scared for me in 2003. Sean, who doesn’t come to my performances as much, flew all the way to Paris, and stood on the side of the audience to protect me. That was sweet.. and was one difference from 1965.
@ronimaj ronnie
If you were to have a dinner with a person, dead or alive, real or fictional, who would it be and why?
Me. It’s simpler than dining with somebody wondering what I should say…
@WoollyCFilms Joanna Winfield
Do you feel as an artist it is important to support up and coming artists by buying orginal artwork whenever possible
I don’t feel that I have to take that role. I just purchase art when it talks to me.
@Malone_ARG Mario A Saccone
Tell us your four favorite paintings
How could I when I love all the paintings I bought with love… and that comes to more than my hat collection in numbers!
@_Berrijuana Thomas Hinyard
What was it like creating the album Between My Head and the SKy?
I was totally inspired. So it was very easy.
@Keelotron Keely Nault
Why do you think the American government is considering censoring the internet?
Because they are scared of facing some problems for them.
@TannersDad Timothy Welsh
What is the answer for Autism?
To know that Autism is just a different way the brain is working. People who are different always have to pay for being different.
@garyghislain Gary Ghislain
Do you choose your projects or do they choose you?
Only when I get inspired, I do the project. So you could say I was chosen by the project, or I chose to give body to the inspiration.
@vaqueraadolfo John Says

Pre-Occupied The origins and future of Occupy Wall Street
...
If anyone could claim responsibility for the Zuccotti situation, it was Lasn: Adbusters had come up with the idea of an encampment, the date the initial occupation would start, and the name of the protest—Occupy Wall Street. Now the epicenter of the movement had been raided. Lasn began thinking of reasons that this might be a good thing.

DOMESTIC REALITY DOES NOT MATCH BOLD WORDS ON INTERNET FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION
The US government has reiterated its commitment to online free speech several times since President Barack Obama took office in January 2009. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in particular, affirmed US support for freedom of expression and opinion very clearly in a speech in Washington on January 21st, 2010.
Urging American companies to take a “principled stand” against online censorship, Clinton said defense of the Internet should be one of the cornerstones of US diplomacy. As the “birthplace” of so many online technologies, the United States had a “responsibility” to protect the Internet as a tool for economic and social development and promoting democracy, as well as a place for the free exchange of ideas. “We stand for a single Internet where all of humanity has equal access to knowledge and ideas,” Clinton added. Prague´s artists and mayor protest Russian repression of Voina Group
Prague´s artists and its mayor joined with Voina Group staging a visual protest action against Russia´s renewed repression of the art activists.
On 3 November, Voina activists Alexei Plutser-Sarno and Yana Sarna helped lead the action, starting at the Charles Bridge in the Czech capital.
They and others hung a “VOINA WANTED” banner (6x8 m) with Oleg Vorotnikov’s portrait in jail from the bridge and on the facades of the Center of Contemporary Art DOX and the National Museum on the Wenceslas Square.
Russian police put Vorotnikov on the international wanted (Interpol) list; his co-founder Natalia Sokol is currently wanted by the police country-wide.

A group of Internet activists gathered last week in an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channel to begin planning an ambitious project—they hope to overcome electronic surveillance and censorship by creating a whole new Internet. The group, which coordinates its efforts through the Reddit social networking site, calls its endeavor The Darknet Project (TDP). HERE

Cracking the Movement - ADILKNO
ADILKNO's Movement Teachings makes no attempt to legitimatize
crowd spectacles after the fact by giving them a social twist.
Neither is it a history book, though it's chock full of bizarre and
absurd anecdotes; it is above all a textbook in which the concepts
of mass and movement are set against each other chapter by chapter
according to the method of applied casuistry. The Teachings are
thus prevented from turning into social therapy. This is also how
they have escaped being theoretical acrobatics. The theory,
the Movement Teachings, is radically raked away and swept together in
the opening and closing chapters. What remains of theory in the
chapters in between is the manner in which certain events are or are
not described, and the connections between the different
descriptions. Through this »absence« of theory the engrossing stories
which thus arise achieve a remarkable clarity. At the same time the
Movement Teachings are distinguished by a swift pace. They produce a
racket bringing to mind the bells and whistles of the squatters' acid
house parties, while in contrast the new social theory prefers the
silence of the funeral chamber. The smoke which the Movement Teachings
(like any good theory) expel smells not of incense, myrrh and gold
dust, but of tear gas, tires and mattresses. The smoke of the movement
is not a cloud masking its shortcomings, but a signal that something's
going on. And we are there.

White House Officially Denies Knowledge of Alien Life
The White House has officially responded to a petition signed by 12,078 people calling for the government to "formally acknowledge an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race." The Office of Science & Technology Policy's Phil Larson wrote a post on the White House website titled, "Searching for ET, But No Evidence Yet." Larson categorically denies that the US has evidence of extraterrestrial life, but his response raises more questions than it answers. For example, what kind of alien name is "Phil Larson?" HERE

November 5th will be a momentous day for the Occupy Movement and we need to make sure that each individual participating is fully heard.
Our collective voice needs to become audible, it needs a presence. The word conspire comes from the latin root, to breathe with, it is in the collective breath that the power of a people is felt. With this in mind, there seems to be no better way to illustrate a unified people, then to give the breath of each individual a voice. With basic harmonicas, we can give this movement sound.
What we're suggesting is to equip the entire movement with harmonicas. By breathing slowly through these harmonicas, the historic instrument of the underclass in America, the audible qualities of both the individual and the whole will become a call used for marches, demonstrations, and sit-ins. As thousands of people step together and breathe together, the sound that we emit will be impossible to ignore or argue, because it lacks words that can be skewed or manipulated.
Hohner harmonica has agreed to donate all of their profits to the Occupy Wall Street cause, making the cost of the harmonicas for us only the cost of manufacturing and handling, 98 cents per harmonica plus shipping (around $200).

Germany To Put Special Monitoring Software On School Computers To Search For Infringement
Just under a month ago, the "Chaos Computer Club" (CCC), which styles itself as "the largest European hacker club", had some disturbing news for Germans:
The largest European hacker club, "Chaos Computer Club" (CCC), has reverse engineered and analyzed a "lawful interception" malware program used by German police forces. It has been found in the wild and submitted to the CCC anonymously. The malware can not only siphon away intimate data but also offers a remote control or backdoor functionality for uploading and executing arbitrary other programs. Significant design and implementation flaws make all of the functionality available to anyone on the internet. HERE

A Cheap Grab For Exposure: The Occupy The Internet Exhibition
Why is Occupy The Internet now an “exhibition of leading net artists“? Launched two weeks ago at fffff.at, the original project was a simple call: embed a script that runs an army of animated gif protesters on your website to show your support for the Occupation movement. The post asked for animated GIF submissions that would then be “called up for duty”, and has since been installed on over 875 websites. MORE

Wired.com Embeds With #Occupy and Anonymous
It might seem odd that I’m covering #occupy and Anonymous together, but it’s not. Both #occupy and Anonymous are each examples of a new kind of hybrid entity, one that breaks the boundaries between “real life” and the internet, creatures of the network embodied as citizens in the real world. As one member of The Pirate Bay explained on IRC, “We prefer afk (away from keyboard) to irl (in real life). This is real life.”
Over the next weeks and months, I’ll look to discover just how real it can become.
