two and half years ago i saw beck in the melkweg. i truly love his music. but his performance was deeply depressing, his hair covered his face while wearing strange sunglasses, seemed he just wanted to sing and seriously didn't want to perform for all these big fans. it felt ambiguous because his voice is real a beautiful raw tenderness came out of it. he clearly didn't choose to connect with his audience. audience with the pope i guess.
