Explanation: I decided to see myself from a historical point of view.while asking myself the notorious question "who am i ?" i went on to ask "who made me?" besides the fact that i have a mother & a father and that i am totaly sure to identify them as my biological roots i do also have other parents.this work wants to pay tribute to the specific social/political circumstances i was born and grew up in.
the (political) powers that ruled my biography are to me visible until the present day. as i perceive my biography as something that still goes on (i am alive!) i rather draw a (life-) line than to make a single point here.
to represent life as a process it seems to me correct to create a question as a self-portrait rather than a simple sentence or word.
coming from that historical POV i can further say that i found out to be strongly influenced by the results of the second world war, and everything that came after - namely by the two totalitarian regimes installed by Hitler & Ceausescu.
the colours of the letters are representing their two main ideologies of comunism & nationalsocialism.
for deeper understanding one must know that i moved at the age of 9 years from romania to germany. the reason why we had to leave our "Heimat" was the terrible situation in comunist romania at that time. ending up in germany i did not only have to deal with the day-to-day problems of a growing up but also with the specific german history. more precisely the collective problem of identification - how can you be proud of yourself as being german after the terrible events of the third reich?
this self-portait is a comment on those historical events that start to happen 60 years ago and keep on reaching us in their multiple ways until present time.
let me say of course not only bad things occured to come from these two countries but also good ones :-) - like myself ?!?
to those who might know me a bit: one will also recognize a not only ironical comment on myself, as i sometimes tend to be too impulsive & direct to others. sorry for that! but you know who you are!!
Now, after we found out who is responsible for this mess, i want to finish diese Nabelschau with the same question: who am I ?

i am sorry, sooo sorry...! it will make me look like a stickler but got to say text can be misunderstood... (1933, 1945, 1965,...)
BeantwoordenVerwijderennice song huh? no dont be sorry, i have also a strange feeling with it. actually im not sure with it anymore.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenthe explanation part is just there to summarize how i came up with the idea.its not really part of the work.what happened 1965?
Nicolae Ceauşescu... was a Romanian politician and dictator who was the Secretary General of the Romanian Communist Party from 1965 to 1989, President of the Council of State from 1967, and President of Romania from 1974 to 1989.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenok 1965 he came to power...to say the last 60 years is too vague.i see...but its hard to take out a point in history and to say HERE it all started..
BeantwoordenVerwijdereni knew this
BeantwoordenVerwijderenanything else?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenwell, how about an "and" instead of an "or"? since to call it "choice" in this case would be recursive wouldn't it? nevertheless good to see you are making friends with HTML (colors)!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenif there is an "and" i create a double, i guess than its more of an rhetorical question ?? ...becomes a yes/no question.
BeantwoordenVerwijderentrue, problem of remaining undefined...
we shouldn't forget the striking/ trashy aspect... colours/names -also work against semantics
BeantwoordenVerwijdereni think i got it now! thx zsolti
