No, we can not buy the land or the freedom; the land takers already did that greatly in the past! this unveiling, making a 50 meters high bronze statue to celebrate the 50 years independence of Senegal, that cost 20 million euros - is one of the post-colonial-modes and is the embryonic state we're in now. the goal with this expensive statue of freedom is to attract tourism, and i don't think president wade won't eat more from it when all he needs to feed is his own needy people.

there are definitely strange motivations for orbit but not only is the artist indian the financier who is putting 19m euros in is indian as well! as far as i can see it will be monumentally weird... not to mention the images illustrating the proposal tiny ant like creatures running barren landscape under technicolor sky... toward red monster!
