i thought about it and as to the end result i agree it is monumental... which i guess is the outcome if you get "The Chase Manhattan Bank is the primary sponsor of "The Most Wanted Paintings on the Web" at Dia. when the project started i was not aware of it going to this extent and blablabla... of course its cynicism was apparent from the beginning. shall we say its success turned it into a failure? (also i was not aware then and over looked even now the "on the web" part of the title...
aha, i haven't seen the sponsorship. i think i like the paintings somehow because they are soo über-done and i could imagine to have lenin hanging over my couch at home, like communistic kitsch! but i had a feeling in the beginning that something is not right with their art ...so i rather say no to it! i can easily imagine one of those paintings hanging in a big luxurious bank office. becoming an ironical (and very expensive) sign of victory of capitalism over the old enemy!
i think this is reactionary art as well as very maleish, monumetal and pretencious. i'm not really with it.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenam i too radical?
